If you need a braid that is quick, and that you can use in a variation of hairstyles perfect for all types of occasions, then a twisted braid is what you are looking for!
This post was all about how to do a twisted braid!
Variation of the twisted hairstyle
A while back I posted a video on 6 different hairstyles you can do with a basic rope braid, they are all perfect if you are a beginner or if you just need some inspiration for a simple everyday hairstyle.
Half up half down
Rope braids are great for half up half down hairstyles as it’s quite easy and simple to do, but it looks like you spend a lot of time before the mirror!
You can do a basic rope braid in half of your hair or take 2 sections of hair on each side of the face, rope braid the sections, and tie them together at the back.
Ponytail
You can pull all your hair to the back of your head and rope-braid your hair. If you find it to difficult braid with all the hair loose, then tie the hair into a high or low ponytail and then twist the hair.
Bun
When you have a rope braid in a ponytail and then twist it into a bun, you get a quick and beautiful bun textured bun that looks like it took more than 5 minutes to do!
Pigtails
Pigtails are such a cute hairstyle and rope braids are perfect for that style! You can make them as tight or as loose as you want and you can also twist both braids into 2 small buns like described before, which is an adorable hairstyle!
Take your bangs down
If you want to elevate any hairstyle, then take out your bangs before braiding your hair and then style your bangs after you are done braiding! Doesn’t matter if you have short or long bangs, it will look soft and beautiful!
For an extra feminine touch, then add some soft curls to your bangs if your bangs are longer, otherwise just style them as normal or pull them behind your ear.

Can you braid in wet hair?
Yes, you can braid in wet hair! It can actually be easier for some people to wet the hair before braiding as it help with the hair not slipping around. It’s also easier to get a slick braid if the hair is wet.
The downside is that getting volume in the braid and hair is not so easy, so I prefer to braid in dry hair.
But there is no right or wrong way to braid, so just do what works best for you!
Why are rope braids good?
When you rope braid your hair your hair gets less damaged! You don’t touch it all the time and you are not using heat when styling!
If your hair gets oily super quick, then braids are perfect for hiding that greasy hair! You can also use the dirt and oil in your hair to create a beautiful slick braid!
If you are running late in the morning, but have 5 minutes then a basic rope braid is a quick hairstyle to do! It’s easy to do and looks beautiful and elegant, and with a bit of practice, it will only take you 2 minutes max to do!
Create waves with a twisted braid
The best thing about rope braids is that you can create the most beautiful and easy heatless waves overnight! Right now it’s really trendy on social media and I understand why.
All you have to do to achieve beautiful waves is to do a double french rope braid in your hair right before bed. You can dampen your hair slightly, but be careful you don’t add too much water as it needs to be able to dry throughout the night. Once you wake up, you can take out the braids and you are left with simple waves!
