A double french fishtail braid is an elegant and simple hairstyle! It’s a practical hairstyle as it keeps your hair out of your face, and it can be worn for several days at a time!
This post is all about how to create a double braid!
What is the difference between a regular fishtail braid and a french fishtail braid?
The main difference between a regular fishtail braid and a French fishtail braid lies in the braiding technique. In a regular fishtail braid, you divide the hair into two sections and cross small sections from each side over to the opposite side.
However, in a French fishtail braid, you use the same technique but incorporate new strands of hair from the sides as you go along, creating a more intricate and woven look.
The french fishtail braid typically starts on the top of the head and the regular fishtail braid normally starts at the nape of the neck.
How can I make my braid look neater and more polished?
There are a few things you can do to polish up your french fishtail braid.
- Brush your hair so there are no tangles – tangles are the enemy!
- Brush each section of hair you add to the braid, with your fingers to smooth the hair out
- Use styling products like a mousse or gel, to control frizz and add texture to your hair
- Wet your hair to slightly dampen it as this will help the hair stay smooth
- When you are braiding, consistently pull each section tight to maintain a neat and polished look
