A fishtail braid looks a lot more intricate than what it actually is. I think a fishtail braid is one of the easiest braids to do and that is because it only has 2 strands, which makes it very easy to manage the hair while braiding.
If you don’t feel like braiding the hair down the back like the picture below, then you can pull all the hair to one side and then braid the hair there, to create a cute side braid.

Fishtail Braid For Beginners
A fishtail braid looks so beautiful in the hair because it has so many details and it´s the perfect braid if you want to create a romantic bohemian hairstyle. It’s great for a half up half down style, for a wedding updo and so much more!
Before braiding your own hair, I would recommend trying the braid on other people or on a hair doll, to really get the technique of the braid down, before trying it out in your own hair.
If you would like to see how to fishtail braid your own hair, then I have linked a video below, where I show how I fishtail braid my own hair step by step!
Be careful to not loosen up the braid too much after braiding, this braid will loosen up by itself throughout the day, so if you pull too much in the braid, it might come undone after a few hours, but if you have that in mind while styling, it shouldn’t be a problem!
